Shiogama and Matsushima are places with easy access from Sendai.
When you come here, you definitely cannot miss one of Japan's three famous sights, Matsushima.
A famous poet of Japan, Matsuo Basho couldn't think of a poem because the sight was just beautiful. He wrote, "Matsushima, Oh Matsushima, Matsushima." Don't you want to go here now?
This time, I am going to hop on a cruise to Matsushima from Shiogama and go up close to this spectacular sight!
Arrive at Hon-Shiogama Station!
I have arrived at Hon-Shiogama Station which is about 30 minutes from Sendai.
The first thing I saw was a fish statue on top of a red mailbox!
This mailbox with a small but impressive fish might be a good spot to meet people up.
So, there's still some time before the cruise sets sail so I am going to walk around the Hon-Shiogama Station area for a little bit!
A cute-size fish on top of a mailbox.
Take a mini walk around the station!
Pray at Shiogami Shrine before the Cruise!
First, I went to pray at Shiogama Shrine which is a 15-minute walk from Hon-Shiogama Station.
It is a big shrine and it is known to be a place of power.
I placed my offerings inside the Nadeushi box for good luck and business to flourish and patted the cow's head.
It is said that since cows drool when they have their heads patted, a cow is worshipped for business to continue for a long time like a cow's drool.
Otokozaka, where you want to run up this hill with all your might.
"Yes to a thriving business! I hope my work will go well".
I felt a lot of power at Shiogama Shrine!
